On Friday night, Jan. 8, Lady Braves soccer took on the Lake Nona Lions (16-2-2) on their senior night.
At the start of the game the Lake Nona Lions played aggressive offense and began taking shots on goal within the first minute. Senior Sorymer Lopez and juniors Megan Pirino and Olivia Page played strong defense. Junior goalie Sarah Aikens had a block and a save in the first half.
Even with all their defensive efforts, the first half ended with the Lady Lions leading 0-3.
During halftime, the coaches honored Lopez and Kathryn Dingman as part of their senior night celebration.
Lake Nona began the second half scoring two goals, bringing the score to 0-5. Sophomore Jazmin Adlam responded by scoring the Lady Braves first goal of the night, bringing the score to 1-5.
The Lady Braves lost to Lake Nona 1-5, giving them 11-5-1 regular season record.
The girls’ next game is home Monday, Jan.11, against Colonial (4-8-3) at 6 p.m, in the district quarterfinals.
