On Tuesday, Feb. 23, the boy’s (6-1) and girl’s (5-2) tennis teams took on the Hagerty High School Huskies on the Reservation. Due to a delayed start to the district match, the teams agreed to play sets rather then pro sets, to finish before dark.

To kick off the singles sets, the boy’s line one player senior Shaun Mealey and the line two player junior Parker Mealey both defeated their opponents, 6-2. Following the Mealeys, line three junior Nicolas Alfert won his set 6-4 and line four junior Matthew Workman swept his set away 6-0. To conclude the boy’s individual sets, senior Hueston Duff, line five, finished strong 6-4.

For the girls, line one senior Ashlyn Gage started the singles sets with a solid win, 6-1, and line two sophomore Gracyn Lindborg dominated her opponent, 6-0. Keeping the streak, sophomore Grace Mccarey, line three, and freshman Kiara Rodriguez, line four, finished their sets 6-1 and 6-0, respectively. To close out the girl’s individual sets, line five junior Amy Birmingham trumped her opponent, 6-2.

In the doubles match ups, the Mealeys played a strong set ending 6-3, while Gage and Lindborg crushed their opponents, 6-0. In addition, Alfert and Workman slayed their set 6-0, as McCarey and Rodriguez closed the doubles sets 6-1.

Both the boys and girls teams outshined the Huskies with 7-0 grand victories.

The boys and girls teams hoped for another total domination as they take on the East River Falcons tomorrow at 3 p.m. on the home courts.
