On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the boy’s (1-1) tennis team faced off against notorious rival Edgewater (1-2) at home.  The girls were unable to play due to a scheduling issue.

Starting the game off strong junior Parker Mealey, line two, won his set in a blowout with a score of 8-0.  Following that Parker’s older brother, senior Shaun Mealey, line one, won his set with a score of 8-2.  Sophomore Dominique Ovalle, line two, lost his set in the cage at 8-6.  Back on the main court junior Nicholas Alfert, line three, won his set.  Rounding out the singles sets was junior Matthew Workman, line five, with a loss 6-8.

Doubles sets bounced in Boone’s favor as the Mealey brothers took their set, 8-2; junior Kian Paymayesh and Ovalle won, 8-5; and Workman and senior Houston Duff won, 8-4.  The final score for the match was 6-2, giving the boys their second win this season.

The next match for the boys will be away on Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. against the Lake Howell Silver Hawks (0-3).

Hey, my name's Carston, and I'm a second year staffer at BoonePubs. My motto is fake it 'till you make it, and I love the movie Big Trouble in Little China. I'd love to travel to Minorca because that's where my ancestors are from. Some of my hobbies include working at the always wonderful Panera Bread, and writing. My hidden talent is that I can play guitar, and I wishfully hope to one day become mayor of Portland.
