On Wednesday, March 30, the flag football team annihilated the University Cougars.

The first quarter started rough, as senior quarterback Emily Colvin had four failed touchdown attempt. Fortunately for the Lady Braves, defensive flag pulls from senior Amanda Oliver prevented the Cougars from scoring in the beginning of the first quarter.

Colvin made a 40-yard pass to sophomore Cassady Quintana, who then scored the first touchdown of the night, making the score 6-0. After senior Sorymer Lopez made an essential interception, Colvin scored another touchdown and senior Katlyn Nicholson scored the extra point, advancing the team, 13-0.

The beginning of the second quarter went back and forth between the two teams, however, towards the middle of the second quarter, senior Olivia Bustamante made an essential flag pull when the Cougars were close to scoring.

Once the ball was back in their possession, Colvin passed it to Oliver, who then scored a touchdown, making the score 19-0. With less than a minute left in the second quarter, Quintana scored yet another touchdown and Nicholson scored the extra point, advancing the team, 26-0.

The Cougars had a successful start in the third quarter, despite sophomore Alana Crawford’s key flag pull against one of University’s players when they were 10 yards away from scoring a touchdown. This was their first down, so they eventually scored their first touchdown, 26-7. The Lady Braves failed to score any touchdowns during this quarter.

In the fourth quarter, defense prevented the Cougars from scoring any additional touchdowns. Quintana ran 10 yards and scored her third touchdown of the night, ending the game 32-7.
