In a home match, the girls and boys water polo teams stung the Bishop Moore Hornets.

The Lady Braves started with possession of the ball after junior Cardinal Hastings won the swim off. The Hornets scored three goals, taking the lead during the first quarter. Senior Kennedy Anderson scored the girls’ first goal right before the first quarter ended, 1-3.

The Lady Braves started the second quarter with sophomore Grace McGee scoring two goals back-to-back, with Anderson scoring two more. Sophomore Chloe Conyers blocked three of the five Bishop Moore shots. At the end of the half the girls were up 7-5.

After Hastings won the swim off at the beginning of the third quarter, Anderson scored her fourth making the score 7-6.

During the fourth quarter Anderson and McGee scored three more goals, beating the Hornets 10-7.

The boys started their game strong with junior Samuel Gentry-Mickelson winning the swim off and scoring a goal. Seniors Christian Assal and Noah Hughes also scored goals. The Hornets scored two goals during the first quarter, 4-2.

Starting the second quarter, junior Charlie Bozeman blocked two attempted Bishop Moore shots. Junior Andy Hoogvorst, senior Giancarlo Ottone and Gentry-Mickelson all scored goals. At the end of the quarter the score was 10-5.

Senior Patrick Egan stole the ball from the Hornets, and passed it to Assal. Assal scored a goal, with Gentry-Mickelson and Hughes following closely behind, 16-7.

In the last quarter Ottone, Egan and Gentry-Mickelson all scored. The Braves defeated the Hornets 20-13.

March 18 and 19, both teams will attend the Gulliver Invitational tournament in Miami, FL.
