On April 11, the boys volleyball team (9-8) lost to the Olympia Titans (16-4) in four sets.

The first set began with strong offensive swings and serving from junior Daniel Hermida, who lead the boy’s offense with 15 kills and six aces f0r the night. Multiple double blocks from Hermida and seniors Jon Bartelt and Jason Hock throughout the set forced the Titans coach to call a timeout, 17-17. An ace from Douglas Page, the only freshman on the team, tied the score at 20-20, but the Titans pulled away and the boys lost, 22-25.

In the second set, Hermida aced the Titans’ serve receive three times in a row with a powerful top spin jump serve, advancing the early lead to 12-6. A kill from junior right side Brett Maneri and Hermida pressured the Titans into calling their second and final timeout of the set, 18-11. A solo block from junior setter Karl Schaefer sealed the second set victory, 25-14.

Despite perfect serve receive passes from senior libero Nicholas Duffy and kills from Bartelt and Schaefer, the boys dropped the third set, 16-25.

The Titans led the boys in the fourth set until the Braves tied the score, 20-20. However, the comeback was short lived and the boys fell, 21-25.

The boys take on University, April 12, at 7 p.m. at University High School.
