In a home game against Seminole on Friday, the Lady Braves Basketball team lost 63-72.
A player began the game with a rebound after making the team’s first basket of the night, 2-2. Throughout the first quarter, The Lady Braves score trailed behind the Noles 9-2.
In the second quarter, a player scored a three-point basket, bringing the score up to 6-9. A few minutes into the quarter senior Madeline Morales scores a three-pointer tying the score up to 9-9. The Lady Braves made sure to focus on both offense and defense, making several assists and steals. Halfway through the second quarter, senior Leilani Guion scores a three-pointer bringing the Braves up 17-15. Morales makes a quick steal and passes it to senior Aubrey Phillips who makes a successful shot and scores 2 points. The quarter ended 32-37.
The Lady Braves highlighted their defensive skills in the third quarter with many steals and rebounds. Junior Alexis Cosgrove gets fouled and makes one of the free throws, making the score 41-43 halfway through the third quarter. The Noles made many fouls on the Lady Braves during the quarter. Morales makes a three-point basket at the end of the third quarter and tied the score up 54-54.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Braves were mainly focusing on their defense with steals and rebounds from the Noles. Phillips makes a quick steal from the Noles nearing the end of the fourth quarter, making the score 60-65. In the last minutes of the game, the Noles made several free throw baskets making the score at the final buzzer 63-72.
The Lady Braves have no games this weekend and will play East River at home on Wednesday.
