In a home game on Jan. 7, the boys basketball team (12-6) defeated Timber Creek (13-15).

The first quarter began with a basket  by senior William Mateer. Senior Barry “BJ” Taylor and Jaquarius “Q” Bargnare score to end the first quarter 12-9. The margin between the scores was slim the entire game, but Taylor made a 3-pointer and got both of his free throws to end the first half  25-23.

The second half started with two baskets from Taylor. Timber Creek worked to keep the score tied or a couple of points difference.  Jose Melendez ended the third quarter with a 3-pointer to bring the score to 38-36. Towards the end of the game, Timber Creek struggled to keep up when Taylor made all eight of his free throws, ending the game with a win, 62-57.

This win was their sixth straight win. Taylor was named MVP ending the game with 39 points and 15 of his 16 free throws.

The boys next game is Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. against Cypress Creek in the Wayne Rickman Gymnasium.
