The series premiere of the CW’s The Ringer on September 13 was the perfect balance between suspense and drama. The show keeps viewers on the edge of their seat the entire episode with its constant twists and confusing plot line.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, Cruel Intentions and Scooby Doo) stars as both Bridget Kelly and Siobhan Martin, twin sisters who are unaware of each other’s dark pasts.

The show begins with Kelly discussing her six months of sobriety and reveals that she is the sole witness in a murder trial.  In fear of being a target of the man who she witnessed murder a girl, Kelly assaults the cop protecting her, steals his gun and flees to make amends with her sister.

After Kelly and Martin make amends, Kelly wakes up after a boat ride with her sister to discover Martin’s wedding band in a pill bottle and assumes her sister has disappeared.

Kelly, thinking her sister has committed suicide, decides to take the place of Martin and escape her fugitive lifestyle.

However, Kelly doesn’t realize that she barely knows Martin’s life until she places herself directly in it. Here she discovers a world of secrets that her estranged twin sister has been living including an un-healthy relationship with her husband Andrew and an affair with her best friend Gemma’s husband Henry.

The show twists at almost every corner and reveals new information in almost every scene.

Gellar does a fantastic job as both the confused Kelly and mysterious Martin, and proves to be the perfect actress for the role.

After watching the first episode with it’s shocking cliffhanger, the show promises to deliver a suspenseful and eye-opening season that has twist and turns at every corner. Five out of five stars.
