On Monday, Feb. 22, the boy’s (4-1) and girl’s (3-2) tennis teams took on the Lake Nona Lions.

To start the individual sets, boys’ line one player senior Shaun Mealey, swept his opponent with a clean 8-0 victory. In the cage, junior Parker Mealey, line two, defeated his opponent in his match, 8-1. Juniors Nicholas Alfert, line three, and Matthew Workman, line four, both served up their respective opponents, 8-2. Line five player Huesten Duff, senior, fell short in his match up, 6-7, which they called after sunset.

In the girls singles, senior Ashlyn Gage, line one, won her match, 8-1, and junior Gracyn Lindborg, line two, won hers, 8-4. Line three Grace McCarey, sophomore, swept her match with an 8-2, victory. Junior Kiara Rodriguez, line four, beat her opponent, 8-4, while junior Amy Birmingham, line five, finished her match with an 8-2 victory.

In doubles match ups, the Mealey brothers defeated the Lake Nona doubles team, 8-2. Gage and Lindborg, the girl’s doubles team, ended their match in the lead, 6-3, but could not finish due to darkness.

The boys team defeated the Lions with a 5-1 win, while the girls swept the match with a 6-0 victory.

Both teams look to have another sweeping victory as they take on the Hagerty Huskies today at 3 p.m. on the home courts.
