On April 20, the boys volleyball team (11-10) defeated the Lake Highland Highlanders (1-9) in three sets.

The first set began with both teams starting strong. Senior Jon Bartelt got the offensive side going scoring two kills to put the team up 4-3. Each team traded points and the set ended 25-21.

In the second set, the boys turned up the level of intensity starting with three kills in a row. Later in the set, senior Nicholas Duffy served up two aces forcing the Highlanders to use a timeout. Junior Daniel Hermida helped extend the lead to nine, again forcing the Lake Highland coach to call a second and final timeout of the set. Double blocks from seniors Cameron Sexton and Jason Hock gave the boys an edge, searching for the last point of the set. The set ended 25-11 with a Highlander mistake.

Although the second set got the team hyped, the Highlanders did not stop fighting and pushed the set to the last few points. Bartelt ended the set with a 25-23 victory finishing the match.

The boys take on West Orange, April 21, at 7 p.m. on the Reservation.
