On Dec. 3, the boys varsity soccer team faced Oak Ridge High on the Norton Baker field.

Boone was the first on the scoreboard with senior Juan Caceres gently kicking the ball into the goal after a penalty in the goalie box. Following his lead, sophomore Eli Matthews ran past his defenders and scored the second goal of the night. In the box, sophomore Noah Franklin consistently blocked the Pioneer’s attempts to score.

Caceres scored three goals throughout the first half and was a prominent offensive player. On the defensive end, junior Foster Zannini kept up with the opponents all night and kept Oak Ridge from scoring with his defensive skills.

The second half had less goals but our defense stepped up to the challenge. When our goalie, Franklin, was down, junior Stephen Brock blocked a kick from Oak Ridge, keeping them scoreless all game. Junior Daniel Hurtado ended the night with the last goal, ending the game 6-0.

The boy’s next game is on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at home against Colonial High School. The game starts at 7 p.m.
