On April 4 the boys’ varsity volleyball team faced University at home, winning 3-1.

Senior Samuel Wilmeth earned the first three points of the set with two kills followed by a solo block in the middle. The game alternated point for point.  At 20-21, senior Matthew Combs stepped back to serve, and secured the first set with a 5-point-run closing the game 25-21.

During the second set, junior setter Zachary Robinson controlled the game as he distributed the ball to his hitters, steadying their run over University.  They won the first set 25-13.

As they stepped back on the court for the third set the Cougars held a three-point gap over the Braves the entire game.  Unable to stop them, the team fell short a match, 17-25.

Battling point for point in the third set Robinson stepped back to serve at 13-13.  He gave the team a 9-point run, while the team defended his serve with consistent ball control.  They finished the game 25-18, winning 3-1 over University.

The team now holds a 6-6 record and will play Bishop Moore in the Wayne Rickman Gymnasium on April 9 at 7 p.m.
