On a cool Saturday morning, the Lady Braves track and field team competed in the Lake Highland Invitational on March 8.

In the field events, senior Miranda Miller placed fourth in the girls shot put and placed 15th in the discus throw. In the girls long jump, sophomore Lauryl Oliver placed 13th.

Seniors Jordan Whitmer and Mackenzie Williamson competed in the girls pole vault with the placement of ninth and 11th.

While the field events continued, the preliminaries for the track events kicked off with the girl’s 4x800m relay with the Lady Braves finishing seventh with a 10:34.37.

In the 400m dash, sophomore Jordan Crawford ran like the wind and placed fourth in the preliminary run with a time of 59.64 and placed fifth in the final run with a time of 101.90.

In the 800m run, the Lady Braves enjoyed three placements in the top 16, with junior Claire Collins placing ninth at 2:28.77, freshman Jessica Dolan placing 13th with a 2:35.00 and freshman Cardinal Hastings ran a 2:42.41.

With the pace set by the 800m run, the girls battled their way into placing sixth in the 4x400m relay with an overall time of 4:20.48.

The next meet is March 15 at Showalter Field beginning at 8:30 a.m.
