With hopes of placing in the top four and advancing to the Regional Championship, the boys track team competed in the FHSAA 4A District 4 Championship on April 20 at Showalter Field.
Senior Colby Ritten threw a 45-05 in the shot put, placing third, and popped out a 107-07 in discus, placing sixth.
In the boys 1600-meter race, junior Spenser Blake ran a personal record of 4.31.21, placing second. Blake also ran a 10:35.31 in the 3200-meter race and placing seventh.
On the track, senior Roy Hoewischer ran a 11.07 in the 100-meter dash, a national elite gold time, taking second. Hoewischer also ran a 23.0 in the 200-meter dash, placing sixth.
The boys 4×800-meter relay ran a 8:34.28; the relay team (Jose Vasquez-Dickson, Clayton Partlow, Emmanuel Cruz and Jose Fuentes) placed sixth.
Eighth place finishers included Vasquez-Dickson who ran a 2:04.65 in the 800-meter race and Xavier Urrutia who jumped a 41-07.5 in the triple jump.
Junior Jogimio Faustin left the track with two new personal records as well as a school record. Faustin jumped a 21-03 in the long jump, placing seventh. He then ran a 40.80 in the 300-meter hurdles breaking the school record.
The boys team placed seventh out of the 10 teams who competed with 42 total points.

Ritten, Blake and Hoewischer will compete in the FHSAA 4A Region 1 Championships on April 26 at Lake Minneola High School.
