On Wednesday night, Sept. 28, the boys swim team faced the Ocoee Knights at the Wadeview Pool and Community Center.
To start their last home meet, seniors Travis Stuart, Andy Hoogvorst, Ryan Bogdan and sophomore Russell Dagon place first in the 200 medley relay (1:50.76). With teammates, freshman Trey Bonham, sophomore Dylan McKinney and seniors Rafael Rodriguez and Thomas Moore placing second (1:57.26). Juniors Chase Herron, Jose Rodriguez and sophomore Beau Staton and freshman Ivan Mihanovic placed third (2:06.22), completing the sweep.
In the 200 freestyle, McKinney won (1:51.89), sophomore Elias Contogonas placed second (1:54.57) and junior Samuel Houston finished fourth (2:22.46), furthering the team’s lead over the Knights.
McKinney, fresh off a win, secured first in the 200 individual medley (2:14.82), Hoogvorst placed second (2:20.20) and Herron finished fourth (2:37.38).
Next in the pool, the boys swept the places once again. In the 50 freestyle, Moore placed first (24.82), Ryan Paule second (26.20) and senior Micah Kinney close behind placing third (26.89).
Following the 50 freestyle, Bogdan placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.69) and R. Rodriguez finished second (1:08.45).
Dominating the pool, Moore won the 100 freestyle (56.14) with teammate Paule not far behind securing second (59.28) and making his meet debut sophomore Adriel Puello placed third (1:07.09).
With inclimate weather on its way, the 500 freestyle was the last race of the night, but that did not stop the boys from achieving another sweep. Stuart placed first (5:02.26), Dagon finished second (5:34.10) and sophomore Ethan Mortensen walked away with third (6:24.63).
The Braves beat the Knights, 89-19. Come out and support the boys swim team as they travel to Winter Park High School on Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
