On April 4, the boys volleyball team (6-9) beat the Lake Highland Highlanders (0-4) in three set.

The first set began with an ace from senior Karl Schaefer from the right side, 2-2. Then senior, middle, Parker Blanchard spiked the ball, 6-3. Later in the set, sophomore Douglas Page spiked the ball with an assist from Schaefer. Senior Buddy Best’s kill advanced the team, 20-15. The lead held and the boys won the first set, 25-22.

In the second set, senior, right side hitter, Brett Maneri’s kill tied the score, 7-7. The sophomore Liam Duffy tied the score again, 8-8. After going back and forth with the score, Schaefer tipped the ball to advance the boys, 13-10. Seniors Toddrick Northington and Schaefer blocked the Highlanders continuing their lead, 21-17. Northington blocked the ball, again, ending the second set, 25-18.

The momentum from the second set carried into the third. Page’s kill started the second set, 1-0. The boys struggled, but Duffy made a kill to bring the boys to 3-4. To help the team gain the lead sophomore Brett Creel made a point, 8-5. The boys gained a substantial lead but when Best’s serve went out, the Highlanders tried to catch up. After Creel’s four continuous serves, the boys led, 24-14. The boys won the third set, 25-14.

The boys take on Colonial, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wayne Rickman Gymnasium.
