On April 4, the girls track and field team placed third out of 10 teams overall at the Metro East Championship meet at Showalter Field.

The meet started with the 4×800 meter relay event. Seniors Jessica Dolan and Kelli Kurtz, freshman Daniella Paolicelli and sophomore Hannah Schneeberger earned third place at 10:07.23.

In the shot put event, junior Jae Crawford dominated first place (39.1m), freshman Alexis Cosgrave placed seventh (31.5m) and senior Viktoria Pringle in eighth (31.2m).

The girls 4×100 meter relay runners placed second overall at 49.80. The second place finish helped improve the team’s overall score.

Three of the long jumpers placed within the top five. Senior Jewell Gentry-Mickelson placed second (5.23 meters), freshman Zaniyah Bryant-Berry placed fourth (4.88 meters) and junior Destiny Caraballo took fifth (4.87 meters).

Junior Brittney Smith brought home second place in the girls high jump (1.60 meters).

On the track, long distance runner Raeanna Pabon, senior, placed fourth in the 1600 meter race (5:55.15).

To conclude the the meet, sophomore Hannhah Schneeberger brought home another fourth place overall in the long distance 2 mile run (12:49.2).

The team girls track and field team will compete in the District Meet at Showalter Field on April 12, beginning at 8 a.m.
