On Oct.1, the girls cross country team ran at the West Orange Invitational in Winter Garden. There they competed against 16 different high schools such as Oak Ridge, Harmony and Lake Howell.

Finishing third of the 16 schools, the girls improved from their last meet at Hagerty Invitational where they placed 11th out of 20 schools. The team lost to First Academy and West Orange, but finished above teams like Apoka and University.

Senior and captain Jessica Dolan once again led the team, placing fifth (20:39.50) out of the 151 girls competing on varsity and also secured a personal best time.

Senior Kiara Zambrana followed, finishing 23rd (22:36.20) as senior Raenna Pabon and sophomore Hannah Schneeberger trailed closely behind placing 35th (23:10.00) and 38th (23:14.80), respectively.

Behind Schneeberger, seniors Kelli Kurtz and Yvonne Amie finished 45th (23:39.20) and 70th (24:44.00).

In the JV race, sophomore Emily Fussell held a personal best time and placed 11th (26:26.00) and Cassidy Harding followed closely behind, finishing 13th (26:38.20).

Though the West Orange Invitational cross country course was recently changed, overall the team proved themselves capable of personal excellence on this race. Between both the boys and girls team 13 runners ran their personal record and three runners ran their best time in the season.
