On April 18, the boys lacrosse team played East River in the district semifinal game at Lake Highland.
Senior Colin Kelly scored the first goal of the night with an assist from senior Jack Reddeck, and Kelly followed up shortly with another goal from Reddeck. However, East River fought back against the two goals and scored.
Boone kept up the lead with goals from senior Michael Gresosky and sophomore Jackson Tyndall. The first quarter ended with a save from senior Cole Dalton, leaving Boone in the lead 4-1.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Reddeck assisted Kelly for another goal, but East River scored shortly after, 5-2. In an attempt to catch up, East River continued to add goals to the score, making the team behind by only one goal. Kelly made a third goal with an assist from senior Jaiden Corrente-Carret, and Reddeck scooped up the ground ball on the next play and took it to the goal. The game ended the first half with the Braves ahead of East River, 7-4.
East River scored the first goal of the third quarter, but Dalton shut down their next two shots, keeping Boone ahead by two. Reddeck scored two additional goals while East River played man-down due to a penalty. East River scored and put an end to the third quarter, 9-6.
In the fourth quarter, East River scored and Gresosky followed with a goal shortly after. East River came back at them and scored two goals, creating a one goal game difference, 10-9.
Boone fought to break further ahead with a goal from Reddeck, two goals from freshman Campbell Griffin and three goals from Kelly to end the game, 16-9.
Boone will advance to the District Finals. The team plays Lake Highland on tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Lake Highland.
