The baseball team defeated East River 8-3 on Thursday.

At the top of the first inning, senior Austin Coble showed his strength, allowing no hits and only one walk. In the bottom of the inning, the batters showed success against the pitcher. Junior Edgar Alvarez hit a double to bring in senior Jack Dixson and junior Miguel Larreal who earned the first two runs of the game. The team ended the first inning in the lead, 4-0.

East River managed one run in the top of the second but the team came back stronger. In the bottom of the third inning with bases loaded, the pitcher hit Coble, walking him and bringing in Dixson. (5-1). The team played smart, the pitcher walked more players ending the inning with the Braves in the lead, 7-1.

The team managed to hold East River in the third inning to keep them from getting further runs. In the bottom of the third, Larreal hit a double to help advance the team. Scoring more runs, the team ended the third inning, furthering the gap, 8-1.

After allowing runs, the team switched Coble for a new pitcher, senior Caleb Cirio in the fifth inning. Cirio stoped East River from advancing further, 8-3.

Neither team managed to advance their score in the two innings.

After securing second seed in the district, the baseball team will advance to the semi final game on May 2 at Dr. Phillips.
