On Thursday, April 7, the girls’ track and field team finished fourth out of 10 schools at the Metro Championship.
Junior Viktoria Pringle finished eighth at 31 feet, 6 inches for shot-put and seventh at 83 feet, 11 inches for discus.
In the girls long jump, sophomore Destiny Caraballo jumped 16 feet, 6 inches, placing fifth. Sophomore Yesenia Lorenzo jumped 16 feet, 4 inches, taking seventh. In the triple jump, senior Lauryl Oliver finished seventh and Lauren Martin finished eleventh, with distances of 31 feet, 1.5 inches and 29 feet, 6.5 inches, respectively.
For high jump, senior Madison Henderson placed sixth, jumping 10 feet.
On the track, junior Sydney Green and senior Miracle Phillips finished back to back in the 100-meter hurdle, running it in 19.38 seconds and 19.48 seconds, finishing seventh and eight, respectively. Green also placed sixth at 53.3 seconds in the 300-meter hurdle, Phillips following close behind in seventh at 53.36 seconds. Senior Jordan Crawford ran the 300-meter in 19.92 seconds, placing eighth.
Caraballo finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.6 seconds. Later, she placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, running it in 26.63 seconds.
Senior Monique Darling placed 10th in the 1600-meter dash at 5:45.39.
In the 800-meter dash, junior Jessica Dolan finished second at 2:17.12.
