GALACTIC MAIL GAME BUILD

UNIT LEARNING OBJECTIVE:   Students will learn to apply coordinate systems in game building, and complete a game with basic animation, a front end, game information and credits.

TUTORIAL GUIDE:  The tutorial guides for this unit need to be downloaded and completed as you work through the Galactic Mail tutorial stages.   Create a project folder on your desktop named Galactic Mail.  Use this folder below to store your tutorial guide and Game Maker files. Click on the links below to download the tutorial guides as you need them.

OTHER RESOURCES:   You will need graphics for the game build in the tutorial.  They will be found on your desktop in a folder called Galactic Mail Assets.

REQUIREMENTS: READ THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE BELOW BEFORE DOING STEP 1

STEP 1:  Make sure that you set up your Galactic Mail folder on your desktop.  Download your first tutorial guide into your folder and save it with your initials_galactic123. 

STEP 2:  Open the tutorial Galactic Mail: Stages 1, 2, & 3.  Begin the Game Maker game build by following the procedure in the tutorial.  There will be prompts requiring you to write definitions for new vocabulary, hypothesis statements and evaluations on your tutorial guide.   Read the prompts carefully so you know what to write about.   Use the Glossary for definitions and Concepts Explained as needed.  When each tutorial guide is completed, upload it to your teacher as directed.

STEP 3:  After completing Stages 1, 2, & 3,  continue the process by downloading tutorial guides (see Tutorial Guide section above) and then complete the next tutorials.  The subsequent tutorial link is listed below.

Galactic Mail: Stages 4, 5, & 6   

STEP 4:  When the game has been completed and tested, have your teacher check it so it can be assessed based on the rubric (see ASSESSMENT section below).  Make sure your tutorial guides have been uploaded so they can be assessed.

ADVANCED CHALLENGE:  Once the basic game build is completed, you can modify the game by designing a new level.  Download the tutorial guide below.  Follow the procedure and document how you complete the challenge.

ASSESSMENT: This game build with tutorial guides is worth 125 points.  Points will be converted into a percentage grade to be posted on Progressbook.
