The Lady Braves started their night honoring seniors Oakley Attaway, Gretchen Chevalier, Neysha Gonzalez, Lindsay Perrin and Lauren Wiles. Then they began their last home game of the regular season against West Orange.
Game one started with kills from junior Marissa Hackett and Attaway; however, the Lady Braves fell to the Warriors, 19-25.
Game two started with a serve from Chevalier and an ace from Attaway. With the score 6-11 West Orange called a timeout. The Lady Braves returned to the court with an ace from Gonzalez and kills from Attaway and Chevalier, but that wasn’t enough to win the set. The lost, 23-25.
Game three began strong with junior Morgan Smith serving followed by kills from Attaway and Hackett. The Lady Braves made their comeback ending game three 25-22.
At the start of game four Attaway had a kill, and and junior Sarah Chapman and Hackett each had a block. With strong play (more blocks from Hackett and Chapman and a kill from freshman Erin Carter, Chapman and Attaway) the team ended game four 25-17, continuing their comeback.
Tied up, the crowd was on their feet to start game five. Attaway and Hackett both had kills followed by an ace from Attaway. At 12-10 West Orange called a time out. For the win, Attaway aced the Warriors, making the final score 15-10. In an intense five games, the girls redeemed themselves to beat West Orange, 3-2.
The Lady Braves will travel to Freedom on Oct.21, for district semifinals.
