The Lady Braves basketball team (19-8) beat University (7-3) last night.

Junior Brittney Smith scored the first two baskets for the team. The first quarter ended 13-5.

In the second half, the Lady Cougars challenged the team, tying the score, 16-16.

Cassady Quintana, junior, brought the girls back into the lead, 19-16, with a basket followed by a free throw.

The Cougars tried to tie the game up again, but the second half ended with the Lady Braves in the lead, again, as sophomore Juliana Fowler made a basket, 21-19.

Quintana scored again in the third quarter, 24-22. The third quarter ended, 29-24, with the girls continuing to hold their lead.

Smith made three baskets in the fourth quarter.

In the last minute, Quintana made a free throw, 42-33. The Cougars attempted to pull out a last minute victory, but the Lady Braves secured a victory.

The team defeated the Lady Cougars, 42-38. Come out Friday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 to watch the team at Orlando Christian Prep.
