On Friday, Jan. 6, the girls soccer team (6-4-0) traveled to East River (4-2-0) and dominated them.

To begin the first quarter, East River scored on goalkeeper Sarah Aikens, senior, 0-1. Shortly after, junior Jazmin Adlam scored the first goal of the night on East River’s goalkeeper, 1-1. Sophomore Cynthia Bagozzi took the ball downfield and scored a goal, 2-1.

“Going into the game I underestimated East River and thought it would be an easy win, but as the game went on I realized we had to pick up our intensity because we had so much more to prove than the way we were playing,” said sophomore Isabella Clem said. “We started getting more goals and it was great. It was disappointing when they scored more goals that could have easily been avoided. Overal,l it was a fun game and it was great to win another game for the Lady Braves soccer team.”

As East River started bringing the heat, they scored on goalkeeper Jessenia Jalca, 2-2. Adlam took the ball back and scored, 2-3.

The Lady Braves dominated the second half beginning with Clem bringing the score to 4-2. Lindsey Jackson took the ball to the East River goal and made the shot, 5-2. Again, Jackson scored the next goal and last goal of the night, 6-3. In the last 31 seconds, East River scored on goalkeeper Emily Baker with the game’s final score, 6-4.

“I feel like we could’ve played much better, but we realized what we need to work on to get ready for districts as well as our final few games left. It was a learning experience for us because we need to say consistent every game,” junior Catherine Demer said.

Come out and support the Lady Braves at their last home game against Lake Highland Jan. 9, at 6 p.m.
