The team faced rivaled Edgewater (11-10) on Jan. 23 and the game was just as competitive and close as expected.

The boys scored the first points with Jordan Goodson’s deep two pointer, but fell behind by the end of the first quarter with the score at 11-13.

However, sophomore Sean Halloran and senior Tyler Colson picked up the intensity in the second quarter, scoring two consecutive 3-pointers and putting the team up 19-15. After the offensive hot streak, the team gave up some open shots and went to halftime losing, 25-26.

The basketball team started the second half with another fast series of points, eventually putting them up by nine points. Colson made two key layups during this series, one of them off the fast break from a steal.

Edgewater was able to muscle their way back into the game, though, and with a minute left to go in the fourth quarter the Braves lead was only 45-44.

With the home crowd cheering nervously and the team gathered in a time out, no one was sure of the outcome. The boys came out of the huddle ready to play. Colson and Goodson led the team to an unsurmountable lead, winning the game 51-44.

Colson had a game-high 16 points and Goodson also played a key role, contributing 10. The team (14-10) plays Cypress Creek (6-16) on Friday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
