On Friday, April 7, the boys lacrosse team (13-5) faced the Lake Highland Highlanders (3-2) in a district game.

In the first quarter, Lake Highland Highlanders received a personal foul, benching player for three minutes. After recovering, Highlanders put away the first goal within minutes of the game.

Fighting for the ball, both teams passed it around teammates for the remainding five minutes. Maintaining a strong defense, junior goalie Cole Dalton came out strong blocking two goals back-to-back. By the end of the first quarter, Lake Highland led making it a 0-5 game.

Furthermore into the second quarter, senior midfielder Tanner Woods gained possession of the ball and charged the net. A Highlander stole the ball, sprinted down the field and scored a goal, 0-6.

After winning possession of the ball during a face-off, a Highlander charged the goal. Dalton blocked the attacker’s shot and junior attacker Davis Pittenger received the ball and ran up the line. Pittenger scored, bringing the score to 1-9.

Minutes before halftime, a Highlander gained the ball and worked it around the back. The Lake Highland Highlander scored.

At halftime, Lake Highland led, 10-1.

Gaining momentum after half, the opponent attackers quickly put away two goals only minutes into play.

Woods gained possession and sprinted with the ball up the sideline. Shuffling within the defensive line, he scored with a shot of his own, 2-12.

Junior Sean Walsh won over the ball at face-off and passed the ball down to senior Henry Johnson. Lake Highland recovered the ground ball and scored, 2-13.

A Highlander gained possession and raced down the field where Dalton blocked the shot and passed the ball to Johnson. The Highlanders found an opening to crash the goal, bringing the score to 2-14.

Woods obtained the ball and hustled to make his shot, scoring two goals, making the score 4-14.

The boys’ lacrosse team lost, 4-18, to a strong team, ending their season.
