Orlando Gifted Academy

Orlando Gifted Academy is the first magnet school for gifted students in OCPS. It currently serves 2nd through 5th grade students and will be adding 6th grade for the 2019-20 school year. We strive every day to make OGA a place where scholars are inspired to be their best self in a challenging, joyful learning environment. To help create that joy, our “OGA Owls” are challenged daily through differentiated learning that addresses the needs of all students. We accomplish this goal with a variety of programs. Our scholars explore topics that interest them through Enrichment Clusters. One marking period they may explore, research, and create a project involving robots and coding and the next marking period, they dive into the world of installation art. If you walk through classrooms on campus on any given day, you might watch a class reading and discussing their favorite books through the Schoolwide Enrichment Model Reading Framework (SEM-R) while another class is diving into a topic of interest through Project Based Learning (PBL). One class might be having a SEM Type 1 experience by listening to a guest speaker discuss their life running a farm while yet another class is conducting a piece of classical music that they will experience on a field trip to see the Orlando Philharmonic. Engaged students are much more likely to invest in their learning and we gladly accept the responsibility to help expose them to as many topics and information as we can during the school year.
