On April 12, the girls track and field team took third place of ten teams at their District Meet in Winter Park on Showalter Field.

The meet started with the girls high jump event. Junior Brittney Smith brought home first place at 1.06 meters, adding 10 points to the overall score.

Adding more points, senior Jewell Gentry-Mickelson ranked first (5.33m) and junior Destiny Caraballo took second (5.30m) in the girls long jump event.

Junior Jae Crawford took first place in the shot put and discus events, with 12.27m and 37.68m, respectfully.

Senior Viktoria Pringle did not fall too far behind Crawford in the discus event. Pringle took third place at 34.57m.

On the track, freshman Daniella Paolicelli took fourth place in the 300m hurdle event at 49.36 seconds.

In the 100 meter dash event, Caraballo placed fifth in the final race at 13.10 seconds.

To wrap up the meet, freshman Esa Petersen took seventh place (12:52.20) and senior Raeanna Pabon took eighth place (13:06.30) in the 3200m long distance event.

The girls track and field team will compete in the regional meet at Flagler Palm Coast High School on April 27.
